Jordanian trademarks adopt the Nice Agreement and do not accept applications for multiple types of trademarks. The elements that can be registered as trademarks include: text, name, graphics, three-dimensional identification, color combination, slogan, appearance, etc.
Jordan is a contracting party to international intellectual property treaties such as the WIPO Convention, Paris Convention, Nice Agreement, TRIPS Agreement, and Vienna Agreement, and has not yet joined the Madrid Agreement or Madrid Protocol. Therefore, trademark registration in Jordan can only be processed through "single country registration".
The trademark is valid for 10 years from the date of application; Renewal can be processed within 12 months before the expiration date, with a grace period of 12 months (with additional fees) and a validity period of 10 years.
If a trademark has not been used for three consecutive years, an application for revocation can be filed.
When transferring a trademark, public authentication of the transfer agreement and the power of attorney of the recipient is also required.

The applicant can entrust an agency to submit a trademark registration application to the Jordanian Intellectual Property Office, or directly submit it to the Jordanian Intellectual Property Office.
Review application documents, trademark designs, power of attorney, and other related documents. If the examination is qualified, it will be announced on the trademark website; If there is any objection, an objection defense will be conducted.
After obtaining the trademark registration certificate, the applicant will submit a certificate of trademark use to the Jordanian Intellectual Property Office.
According to the provisions of the Trademark Examination and Decision Procedure, the Trademark Registry reviews all documents submitted by the Trademark Office and the Trademark Review and Adjudication Board, and makes a final decision when necessary.
The approved trademark will be published in the official Jordanian gazette.
It should be noted that when applying for trademark registration in Jordan, evidence of use must be submitted and oral evidence cannot be used.
If the applicant is dissatisfied with the preliminary examination decision, they may raise an objection to the Jordanian Intellectual Property Office within 30 days from the date of receipt of the notice. The Jordanian Intellectual Property Office shall make a decision on whether to register within 60 days after receiving an objection. If the objection is established, the trademark will be rejected; If the objection is not established, the trademark will be approved for registration.
Any trademark that has been filed for revocation can be applied for revocation by anyone to the Jordanian Intellectual Property Office within one year from the date of the application's ruling. The reasons for revocation include: the trademark is identical or similar to a registered or opposed registered trademark; The trademark engages in deceptive and misleading behavior towards consumers during use; The goods or services using the trademark do not comply with relevant laws and regulations. Any application with objections to the trademark can be filed.
